Any text that's displayed comes out of a language file, in the language editor, just search for the thing you want to replace, and it will take you right into the correct language file.
As for the shoutbox, it's in /languages/english/portal_islands.php

excellent, thanks. I found it, but when I try to edit it I get the following message:
Control panel message
C:/Inetpub/vhosts/game-master.net/httpdocs/pit/languages/english/portal_islands.php is not writeable. Please fix the permissions on this file and try again.
any ideas?

Yep, the file permissions on the language directory/files
put them to 777, that will make them writeable from the control panel.
If you don't succeed at this, you can always just download that language file, make the adjustments, and re-upload them.

No, you need to set those permissions using an ftp program.

Just for my information, why's 666 better instead of 777? I normally do everything 777, only one number to remember then

Because you're looking to get your site whacked. 777 on files means to allow it to execute. 666 just allows the World to Read/Write - can't execute a folder too easily

But why make the folders 777 then, why not make them 666 too?

Because you want all users on the machine to be able to execute files in this folder; as apache isn't the local user for your site.
