UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support MySQL server has gone away

Hi All,

I have been maintaining a forum version UBBThreads 6.5.5 for 1.5 yrs and the members have recently (past 2 weeks) been experiencing slowdowns and occasionally receiving this error:

"We cannot proceed.

Script: /home/content/t/w/e/user/html/ubbthreads/ubbt.inc.php
Line#: 1608
SQL Error: MySQL server has gone away
SQL Error #: 2006
Query: SELECT U_Username,U_Password,U_SessionId, U_StyleSheet, U_Status, U_Privates, U_FrontPage, U_Number, U_Banned,U_LastOn,U_OC_Userid FROM ubbt_Users WHERE U_Number = '263'"

My webhost states that it may be a problem with my connection string, but that just doesn't sound right (why now after over a year?). While I check that, are there any other possible causes?

Thanks in advance.

The MySQL server has crashed or cannot be contacted; hence the error complaining about not being able to contact it...

Often means the site has become busier than the server can handle. Usually the server can be tuned better, though sometimes an upgrade is in order.
