Is there a way in the UBB settings to specify a custom directory for gallery images?

What is the default directory for the images?

They are stored in /gallery - any reason why you would want a custom directory?

We would like a custom directory for higher security so it is not web accessible.

For instance the design of "Gallery" (the open source photo album organizer totally unrelated to UBB Gallery) has a two directory system. One web accessible and one non web accessible which is the more secure way to set things up. We prefer a more secure system. Is there a way to do this?

We are also anticipating changing the URL of our UBB Threads installation due to a rebuild of our website on a different technology. Thinking that there are probably full paths to the gallery graphics in the database we might have a more complicated than necessary migration process.

Its somthing i want also or been asking for?
As its an option for file uploads, so why shouldnt it be a option for the gallery also.

I have my Files upload on a bandwidth tag, so if it goes
over it shuts down files / images from showing but does not
disable my forums.

This is the set up i want to achieve with the gallery and
its directory of choice if it had one.

Currently its in the root /threads,
and i cant customise the bandwidth for a directory.

But i can for sub-domain names.
Its also a good idea for back ups also?
This way i can back up my forums every night
(I know the database is elsewhere)

But having all files and images in folders
on a sub domain, makes backing up easier to manage and monitor.

I believe some upgrades to the gallery are slated for the next version - that feature would be a nice addition.

Yeh, the gallery itself is limited as it is to get it out the door; updates will come

It just seems its been around for a while now.
And its still the same as when it was released that's all.

On this side of the fence its always "When".
No road map to follow or hints about it you see

Hey, it's in the roadmap (for Gallery to be updated) as Rick said that in the release announcement for 7.2.x when the gallery came out ... Just there is a lot on Rick's plate (including Blogs and a UI redesign) so it'd take a lot more itme to get a release out the door if he went for everything in one release ...

I know this Giz but if you want to follow that road
then we should be looking at blogs in 7.3

I'm just saying from this side it is unclear when things
will change, i cant see a road map.

This 7.3 is a huge re-write i know and it a huge hats off to Rick.
But when you look at the updates on the user side there's not
that much for a long time waiting.

We as admin love the Back office changes but its the users that will judge at the end of the day if they like your forums for functionality or not.

Yeh, but Blogs would have pushed the release date for 7.3 back to July... And people are already ansy lol...

Me, i can't wait for a basic blogging implimentation...

I hope the blog its not too basic for all the waiting < fingers crossed >

Well, getting it in and working is the first priority ...

The Gallery was introduced as a basic feature.

Its not a dig at rick, its the way its worked out
i'm hoping more time can be put towards the
existing quality features as well as new ones.

Well, because so much got put into 7.3 it was thrown off of it's 3 month cycle; so much stuff to error check ...

do you really like the roadmap?
