I'm not surprised, I did the same check here. As I said before, the fact that you can PM with yourself without even a warning whatsoever is not one of the nicest features smile

I would prefer that it checks if there are no other recepients then yourself, and asks what to do. I would go for adding the private topic again to all previes active recepients.

Rick,

I realize it is not and should not be just tacked on for a sitewide PM. It would be a new feature and only a single bit would need to be changed. 0 not read 1 read (yes a little more than that but not much in regards to actual data size and hit to the system)

Most mail systems only store a single image even though a message may be sent to everyone in the company. When the user deletes the message it does not delete it, it just marks it as deleted by that user.

I don't see why (in some future version) that a similar idea could not be used with UBBT

Yes, where do we stand with PM-ing all users one way or another?

I agree that the message, since it will be the same, can be stored just once (centrally), only a 0/1 for each user would have to be created in the DB (which is a whole lot easier than storing the entire contents of the message once for each user).

The admin would be able to create say 12 messages of this type (this could be a admin setting variable), and every new one thereafter would overwrite the oldest previous one (message #13 would overwrite message#1 including the 0/1 - so that message would then automatically disappear from everyone's inbox regardless of whether they have read it or not).

Most importantly the message will look like any other message, so in effect this feature will really look like getting a regular PM from the admin.

Is there a way to send a pm to all users? I haven't seen it. Not sure why someone is requesting it, you could get an awful lot of replies smile

There was a topic in here recently about it.

Personally I would like the ability to PM a group, but the opinion was that it would drag down the server.

I would still like this as it would benefit a forum.

Thanks whoever attached this smile I tried to search for it but people weren't using the words private message and "PM" is too short to search for tongue
