In the old FAQ format you could link directly to one of the specific FAQ items (in our case the RULES) with the new FAQ format that isn't possible (AFAIK).
It would be great to have that ability again, are there any simple solutions to getting the A NAME, direct link ability back?

I would think that you can but not sure how much work it would take on the back end.

It'd be quite easy, actually, I think I'll make a quick update to the system for 7.4 and see if I can get Rick to add it in...
I'm not entirely sure how it'll work with "expandy" though...

That would be really nice.
In fact, after reading some of the other threads about the faq here (placement, accessibility, etc) the ability to link to it would probably resolve most of the requests from others as well.
If you want a tester for trying this out I would be more than willing to step up. This is something we really need at our board, I don't want to create a separate HTML page just for the rules.

Well, I just rolled out an update to Rick, but I'm sure I'll end up having to update it again before the next release for new features...

Sort of like the media tags? I guess I don't follow.
If it was like the media tags (or where you can select it from the markup window) could you restrict it to a certain group of users (say mod's and admins)?
Would this custom tag be able to link to a specific place in the FAQ and not just load the entire thing as it is now?
If I undertand correctly what you are eluding to then that would be pretty handy to be able to cite specific items in the FAQ via a markup tag. Often times when we close a thread we cite specific rules that were violated in the closing post, we have roughly 13 or 14 "rules" in the rules section.

yes, exactly on one forum, i created a [rtfm] tag it does 2 things.. 1. [rtfm:faq] -- inserts a FAQ snippet into the post for their reference 2. [rtfm:rewlz] -- extracts posts from a hidden forum of topics, that i have as general rules and inserts that as a snippet into the post.. works fine, lasts a long time

Don't have the tags, but I do use a hidden forum to cook up the FAQ... http://themepark.nl/scripts/faq.phpEverything you see is generated from a hidden forum. Adding an item is easy as adding a topic. Soon on ubbdev near you in a ubb forum layout jacket.
