Once again I'm trying to install ubb.threads where the Mysql is installed on a diffrent server.

When I'm running install.php. If I put the server name and "test" as a datbase name I get PASSED for both. (test database was installed during MySQL setup)

If I put a server name and "UBBDB" as a database (I createed UBBDB manually in MySql) I get Server PASSED and Datbabase failed. Am I having permission issue? If so How do I setup permission for the datbase I created manually on MySQL?

Thanks

It sounds like a permission issue. You probably need to grant access for your server with the scripts to connect to the database. One of the easiest things to do is run the mysql_setpermission utility if you have telnet access to the server. This will step you through creating a user/password and what server can connect to that specific db.

I'm not having not much luck with mysql_setpermission.pl. In installed perl and run mysql_setpermission.pl and it tells me it can't find DBI.PM. I install DBI.PM tells me it can't load modules. I installed DBIusing pmp and it tells me some other error messages. I just gave up. Why is this installation very difficult? I think infopop did a great job with all their products but such a bad job with documentation. In installation documentation saysNO MYSQL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Do I create the database or phhpmyadmin does it? If phpMyadmin creates the database and tables as it states in the documentation. Why it is asking me the database name and user info?

Finally I got "passed" on database check step.
I came all the way to step 6. When I click on "Create the database table" I got the follwoing message.

Did it create everything I need?

Turk,

You now have 3 threads on this subject which makes it really hard to follow your progress - may I close the other two?? Did you read my document which I posted to you on one of the other threads?? Multiple threads does not guarantee multiple visibility...

Brett,
Please go ahead and close them all.
I was just frustrated and I wasn't paying attention. Thanks for all your help.

It's okay - no problem - it was just kind of frustrating to be trying to work with you on this problem on one thread only to find that you were posting results on a new thread, it makes it difficult to help you out <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

So - is it all connecting together now?
