Trying to post an image that is generated by a script doesn't seem to work. It did in Classic. (We use them for chess diagrams.) Are the img tags limited to URLs with image extensions? Can this be changed to allow links like the above to work? Even html didn't work and it's enabled for mods and admins.

I am sure that it is because the file extension is missing. If you goto the control panel you are required to enter allowed file extensions for image inserts. But you can use the url insert for it as is. I posted a reply in the test forum where you started at and that works.

I don't want a link to the image; I want the image, the chessboard, to appear in the post. That worked in classic with img tags and URLs like this one.

I saw the extension list for attachments, not for image inserts. Where is that? Although it doesn't sound like that will solve it.

I don't see a .jpg .gif or .png at the end, that is what it is looking for.

That's what I imagined, but it's a script and it is never going to have an extension. But since it used to work in Classic is there any way to either fake this functionality in this version of Threads, perhaps with html, or to have it added in the next update?

I'll have to put in an option. Right now it checks to see if the image is being generated by a script as a security precaution.

If you're comfortable with regex, it's blocked on line 639 of libs/bbcode.inc.php.

Yes a lot of sites have recently been doing this type of coding I guess to cut down on people hotlinking and / or grabbing their images. I've seen other applications that don't like this newer method either. Guess just another growing pain of the Internet.
