7.3 installation. I just changed the MySQL database password and went to change the password in the Control Panel. When I tried to update it I got this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function error() on a non-object in /usr/www/users/xxxx/boards/libs/mysql.inc.php on line 77

So now my forums are down because they can't access the database.

I think you need to manually edit the config file. It is in the includes folder called config.inc.php. The database password field is near the very top of the file. Something like line 4.
You probably would have had better success if edited the control panel first. Still get a error, then change the password in mysql.

Thanks, that did it! Still, if it's an option to change it in the CP, it must be designed to work without manually changing the file. Anyway, at least it's working. Time to prune 300MB of posts...

Well I have always edited the file and if you look at Gizmos posts in the FAQ forum for moving your site it is suggested to do it that way. I have never tried it but like I said if you had changed the control panel first then changed the actual password then went back to the control panel it probably would have worked.
