Hi I just upgraded to 7.4.1 from 6.5.5 all seemed to go ok and then ran the importer.

now the forum seems to be working and date is there. All the links are there and working user list calendar etc.

When I click on the control panel to make some mods the control panel looks like a plain html page, and when I click on any of the links I get

The page you've attempted to reach is no longer available or does not exist.

this happins on all links in control panel.

The admin login worked ok when I logged into the forum.

Help please

It appears as the admin login is not working as administrator just a user.

Not sure how to fix this.

Any help.... please

If you have never been able to open the control panel you may have overlooked uploading the files at /forums/admin/
At least for me that is where the control panel files are located.
If you see the control panel link in the forum when you log on that should mean that your are the admin or at least have rights to it. If you were not the admin you would have a message that you "must have proper permission. Double check your folders to see if the admin folder exists and see if the files are there. There may be some missing or corrupted or permissions are set wrong in the folders.

I would think you can re upload all the files in the admin folder without the need to run the install again.

If you just open your browser and type www.mysite,com/forums/admin what do you get? Change the url to where the forum is installed with /admin at the end.

Hi Thank you very much for the reply. This is driving me nuts

When I login in as the admin the control panel link is there and when clicked it shows links not really in tables on the left side like I have seen before in other cp.

I did copy a new set of the admin files still the same.

I tried to login in as a user that I have and won't login.

I created a new user and it loged in fine and the CP link is not there so that is working ok.

It seems to have the permissions messed up and all users cannot login.

Still trying to sort this out

You might need to open a support ticket.
But it would help us all if you would provide the URL to your site. So we can see it for ourselves.
I am not talking about viewing the control panel just the forum.
If you open a support ticket Rick will need all the login info. Including a ftp account.

Also you can see what the control panel should look like HERE

Ok I may have stumbled on something here. I noticed the path that the CP links are pointed to are incorrect. They point to the files outside of the UBBthreads subfolder.

I copyed the admin folder and files to the root and now the CP is starting to look closer to what it is supposed to.

I not sure how to correct the path so maybe I shoud try a reinstall?

Thanks

Somehow during the install the path was setup incorrect.

I tryed a reinstall and it show the correct path info but did not change the links to the correct path in the CP.

Anyone know how I can manualy change this path for CP?

There is not a setting for just the control panel path but there is a file you can check at includes/config.inc.php for all path settings that you can edit with like notepad.
But before you panic what is the correct full URL to your forum.
Mine is http://www.iaeifl.org/forums/
You may just have installed a folder in the wrong location and don't need to reinstall.

Ok I checked the config and these paths are correct

'FULL_URL' => 'http://www.bracket-racing.com/ubbthreads',
'BASE_URL' => '/ubbthreads',
'FULL_PATH' => '/home/www/bracket-racing/ubbthreads',

I noticed when I ran the importer it created
'TABLE_PREFIX' => 'ubbt_',
and the old table prefix is w3t_ so the db has 2 sets of tables for the forum

Okay a couple of issues here.
I visited your site it states no forums to view.
When you ran the upgrade you had the option to use a prefix maybe you skipped it.
The default prefix now is UBBT_
Check to see which set of tables have data. If it is only w3t that has data then you can use that if you want
Print out the existing file config.inc.php so you don't loose track of what you change.
Edit the file look at the first 5 lines or so to make sure your database connection settings are correct and change the table prefix to w3t_ if that is what you want.
Also your Admin folder and subfolders should be at http://www.bracket-racing.com/ubbthreads/admin

I view the forums ok not sure why you can't view them.

I may have skipped the prefix.

all tables have data and the data is viewable in the forum

the table prefex in the config is set to ubbt_ I don't mind that as long as I can get the forum working. I tried a test and change it 2 w3t dosn't work so set back.

the admin folder and subfolders that the links in CP are pointing to are not correct.

I did login as admin and put the correct path in the browser for paths_db.php and got the file to run.

If I can figure out the correct paths and save this do you think it will correct the CP path?

Once again thanks

Okay I finally can see your forum It must be closed to guests.
After I registered I can see something.
The whole site looks hosed up Duplicate forums, Menu item text missing etc.
Could be paths are not all correct, corrupted files for what ever reasons, not uploaded in ascii or upgrade was done incorrectly
You need to first verify the correct paths to see if they need to be changed.
So after all that you have 3 options I see.
1.Install a fresh net new install to test if it is your new server and correct any paths. Then you can upgrade.
2.Redo the upgrade completely and follow the docs completely.
3.Open a support ticket.
I can't help much more with out full access. I don't know what else to tell you.

If you are not sure what your absolute path is you can make a simple php file called say path.php. Place this in the file.
Quote
<?php echo getcwd(); ?>
Copy it to your main forum folder and run it from your browser this will confirm your absolute path.

There must be a way to change that path in my db

I did a table drop all ubbt_ tables

did a re install of 7.4.1

ran the importer again

now the forum is back up and it fixed the duplicate forums, etc.

But when admin is login the CP panel links still point to the wrong path.

Whew... It's really been a tough one. I hope to find a resolve soon.

And to think I will be going thru this a couple more times as I have 3 licenses and all need upgraded.

Thank you Ruben for your input on this.

Okay The forum looks better but a few items missing such as forum list and MyStuff menu items.
In the control panel it looks like for the image at top left path points to
http://www.bracket-racing.com/images/cp/cp_logo_top.gif
But work when you change the path to
http://www.bracket-racing.com/ubbthreads/images/cp/cp_logo_top.gif
Which is incorrect still.

It looks like the paths are correct but you have copied some folders to the wrong location. Every folder or file should be under the UBBThreads folder. Check to see where cp_logo.top.gif is located. It should be http://www.bracket-racing.com/ubbthreads/admin/images in a browser. That will prove to you you uploaded files to the wrong folder location

Again I will say. You need someone to have access to your site to figure out what is wrong. Incorrect paths, file locations wrong or upgrade is performed incorrectly

I have folders with same name on the root that belong to other content on the web page. I did not upload to the wrong folders all files were uploaded to ubbthreads folder.

The image you refer to cp_logo_top.gif is in the correct dir (admin/image_files) my install admin dir had a folder in it called image_flies and that is how I uploaded. I went back and checked and even unziped a fresh copy of 7.4.1 files and inside the admin folder is the folder image_files.

I did open a support ticket but no one is assigned yet.

I was still hoping for more suggestions on how to change the path info after an install.

Once the paths are correct I think it will be much eaiser to find any files (if any) that may be missing.

I'm still working at it. And all suggestions are welcome

Thanks again Ruben

No more suggestions on my side. I would hope someone can help you.
This should not be that difficult to do.

Unless Rick just happens to visit tonight, I would think it will be tomorrow before you get a response from him.

I already know there was a styles setting/files issue and it is resolved now but what was the issue with the control panel.
Just for my own info.
