As of January 1st, 2009, Slysoft will change its update policy from free lifetime updates to an annual subscription fee. I read this the other night; I was rather amused

Yeah these lifetime free license programs don't often last forever. I have a few applications that I have lifetime for.

WinZip though not a lifetime was a great one for many years. I bought it back in like version 3.x and got free updates for years up till about version 10 but I think that is about the time that Corel bought them up or something like that. Have since switched to using WinRAR as default archiver as it's much more powerful and most of the Internet downloads now use it as the defacto standard.
