I'm pleased to say the upgrade from 7.2.2 to 7.4.1 went pretty seamlessly, Except for problems with my Language files.
Problem : WHITE SCREEN
Ive fixed one of them "editbasic" where one of the strings was not attached to a variable. Once i seen the problem i removed it and that works fine.
How ever i get the white screen with the search language files. So there must be a corrupt file in there.
I clicked "Update Language File Automatically" on the upgrade procedure.

Another reason I need to get language files moved into the database, at least for initial storage, text files can easily break. It sounds like in your case it's not reporting errors to the browser, as it should be saying which file is causing the issue. Might try checking the webserver error logs if you can.

Ive just gone through every Language file, removing any white lines and gaps in the list of variables.
No change with the search language files? Still white screen.
Will try and look in the log files / get the error on screen.
Stranger again i had a few files i couldnt change the permison on from 644.
I had to delete the file and upload it again, then i could change them to 777

Server Log files are not showing anything. Checked in IE if it shows error path and its doesn't. As i'm using FF 3
I may upload the defaults and add mine one at a time and see where it falls down.
I can do the individual searches on the files.

Got this sorted now. How im not sure. . .
Deleted all my Lanuguage files. Uploaded 7.4.1 Defaults.
Admin Language File Search works Fine Now ( No White Screen )
I uploaded my custom language files 5 at a time checking the search would still work.
All uploaded and the search still works ??
All working now that's the main thing.

Another reason I need to get language files moved into the database But dont forget an import/export function for easy distribution of languages. If they only be in the database it could be hard to exchange translations.

Yeah Zarzal, We'll definitely have an import/export function.

an other solution can be a litte check script for language files. It could test the files for errors in the format (missing "; etc.)
