Hi

Over the last couple of days we have lost the ability to move topics when logged in as administrators

Anyone know how to fix this?

Check CP > Forums > Group Management > Administrators > Forum > Expand 1st column, 11th field down: Can move topics. These should be set to 1.

thanks for the reply. I'm with you right as far as group management but then my choice are group editor or group access. Not seeing Forum or columns or option can move topics or anything I can set to 1

Any ideas

The info is for 7.4.1

In Group Management there is a tab called Group Editor. Here there will be a list of groups: Administrators, GlobalModerators, Moderators, Users, Guests.

Across from Administrators you will see 3 options: [Forum] [Site] [CP]. You need to click on [Forum]. This opens Forum Permissions for Administrators. In the left hand column you will see 'Can move topics' 11 fields down. This is what you need to check.

I seem to be running version 7.2.2 - do you happen to know how I fix it in this version or do you recommend an upgrade

Hmm, is it your admins that have lost the ability to move or is it your moderators?

It's all the administrators

That's odd with admins as there is no restrictions on admins moving topics. Is the dropdown menu still there at all?

Maybe there was some "custom" code written by one of the Admins/Mods at some time that was forgotten?

Dumb question but with several admins on the board. Have you double checked they are indeed still admins.
No resolution to why you can't see the settings but maybe someone removed the admins from the admin group.
Goto cp>group management
on the top line is administrators to the right is a column called members. This shows how many admins there are. You can click on the number and it will show all the admins. See if everyone is there.
You can also goto cp>logs>view admin logs select a date range and see if someone was poking around in the control panel.

Rick - if you mean when on a post page within the forums then no - the option to move thread is no longer there-you can however delete it. If you mean in control panel - group access - administrators - then remove threads is definately checked.

Ruben - yep - 3 admins all still listed as admins

ntdoc - no custom code has been written by an admin because non of us know how to - however recently we suddenly acquired a fault that meant when a visitor clicked enter forum link they got an error message occur. When we looked we found the that the config.php had acquired some new code (something about base64 encode). When I overwrote with an earlier back-up config it fixed that problem - However, was this a hack? and could other code pages be malfunctioning as a result?

Hi Guys

I've found an additional prob - maybe assocciated - when viewing a post if an admin hovered over the member name you got the option to view all posts by that person - not only has this gone but i can't seem to view these posts even if I search for the member via CP-member management - any thoughts on this and my previous problem

You might consider opening a support ticket with ftp and ubb login info so Rick can take a look at what is going on.
