I've set up a forum just for Admins and Moderators. I've given mods permission to view, etc. However, unless I have the "User" box checked, the can't access any forums and even then, the permissions are hiding the admin forum from them. The only way, so far, that I've been able to allow them to access that forum is to give the general USER group access, but then anyone can see and access it. What am I missing here?

I thought about that, but, it really doesn't address the issue of having to have the stock Mod group also in the stock User group just so they can see the general forums and then still not being able to see the restricted forum.

This might be the sticking point that confuses quite a few people. Moderators will only get the moderator permissions for a specific forum if they are actually assigned as a moderator of that forum.

So, if you have a Forum where Moderators Can view the forum, but your moderators aren't actually assigned as moderators of the forum, they won't be able to view it.

It catches a lot of people, but it's one of the only ways we were able to make it so you could assign moderators with different permissions on different forums.

Once we redo the CP, we'll try and make the UI better so this isn't quite as confusing.

Thanks Rick. You know, I was thinking about that, but with my "other" software I can let them have access, but NOT be a moderator of that forum. Let me go test this out and I'll get back, but I'm sure that will be the fix.

Thanks Rick. Couldn't get my mods to see the new mods only forum either. Thought I was doing something wrong. Just gave them mod privledges in that forum and now everything looks good.
