I apologize for seemingly only coming over here whenever I have an issue, but life has been extremely BUSY/HECTIC for me!

Question: I have my site on a VPS; lately, my entire site goes down and I have to contact my host to "jump start it."

I received an e-mail from them over the latest jump-start, and they said that I was in violation of their terms of agreement because I was operating a cgi site.

First, I thought Threads was php; second, I've been with this company for a little over 2 years now (in fact, just re-upped with them), and now, all of a sudden, I'm violating their terms of agreement with my board?

ARGH!

Anyway, how much of a headache might it be to move from a VPS to a dedicated server?

UBBThreads is php not cgi.
There is one cgi file that you might still be using it is a redirector for visitors that bookmarked a old link to a classic board.
Called ultimatebb.cgi
But thats it everything else is php
Maybe you are still getting hits on that file if you have it.

I'd first ask them which file(s) are causing the issue - could be a low-level grunt without a clue.

They appeared to look at the copyright on the bottom of your message board and automatically assumed that your running a CGI based message system as they strictly name Ultimate Bulletin Board in their Policies.

another thing that happens, if it's a WHM based server.. anytime you upload any new install of ubbthreads (ie: and upgrade), it will notice the mail scripts and flag them..

the message to the Server admin is to the effect that 'possibly spammy CGI scripts' uploaded bla bla bla...

if one goes JUST by the automated mail, then they can be duped into believing it's CGI, when it really isn't wink
