I'll try to explain this one as easy as possible, but even I can't understand it properly!

I run competitions on my site where users predict the outcome of each NFL game for example. My competition organizer wants to be able to send out 'reminder PMs' to those who haven't posted their predictions at a certain point during each week.

Now the way I have it is, an Excel sheet, once maintained, tells the organizer who's predicted and who hasn't. So what I want it to do then is send one PM to whoever hasn't, instead of sending 4 or 5 separate ones. Is there any way I can do this?

Currently running 7.3

Thanks smile

You could take advantage of the buddy list in private messages.

You would add all the people to the buddy list.

Then when you send one private message it will go to all the people that are selected.

Assuming your version has that feature.

That's one route I may have to go down, but what I'm ideally wanting is to send a PM to users listed in Excel that haven't posted their predictions at the click of one button.

Basically, I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for the competition organizer smile

Don't know how you could make it one click if your Excel list changes every week.

But I was talking about sending messages directly from the buddy list not using the stand alone private message where you have to select a person and click add one at a time from the buddy list.

On the buddy list you just place a check mark on each person then select send message to all selected.
So as far a clicks go that would be one click for each person and one click to create the message and one click to send.

Are you saying you want to have the forum software read the Excel file?

Yeah, that's about it. Say for example:

Bob, Jim, Dennis, Dave .. have not posted their predictions. I then want Excel to interact with the forum software, and pull up a PM al ready to hit send with those users already listed.

that would be a modification to stock -- ubbdev time smile

i did a similar modification, in that it read an excel spreadsheet of paypal donations -- pre current paypal subscriptions -- then did a whole buncha stuff based upon the information contained within the sheet..

it was uploaded as a CSV, which shouldn't be too hard to do..

but it ain't stock baby laugh
