I have decided that I want to make some animated tutorials for using some UBB features for members. I was looking for some free software that allows annotations and found camstudio but it really sucks as far as annotations are concerned.
Any suggestions?
I really miss the old recorder feature in windows 3.1 it was so simple it was pathetic. I don't have funds to purchase something at this time so I was looking for freeware or cheapware. I have to many other software upgrades to contend with this year.

*laughs* aye it would be something I would help you with Ruben jeesh. There are a lot of features that members (and board owners) don't exactly know and without guided instructions... may never experiment to find out. (this includes some of the mods avail.)... thought about doing the youtube video on it? Maybe a cheap way to maneuver around the expensive studio stuff.
It is a great idea though.

The problem is with the new UI coming this century my videos might be useless as no one will know what, where and what's what lol

Once we get 8.0 out and someone or two wants to tackle this, I'm sure we could work something out if a free recorder isn't readily available.

Well I already own a copy of Camtasia Studio v6.0.1
But been quite busy - maybe when 8 is out I'll have more free time.

Hi,
2-3 moths ago, Techsmith distributed their 3.xx Camtasia version in a CD sticked to a German PC journal for free. If there is any need, I'll look it up and send it. Version 3.xx was good enough for the purpose, all the bells and whistles of the newest version are nice but not a "must have".

Nope, not a "must have" but the file format is actually much better and smaller than that version and much better control of what you're doing in the newer versions.
They also offered quite hefty price reduction at one time with that. That is how I got on board with them. Got the freebie 3 but then they offered like 50% off the 5 version so I went ahead and bought it. Then just last week I updated to 6
