I recently upgraded to 7.4.1 and some users are having the following issues

1. The are unable to login. I asked them to clear the browser cache etc but it still does not work.

2. When some users click on a members profile wanting to view their postings it says the member has not made any postings...

Any specific error they are getting on #1? And are you able to login using their same info?

On #2. If you become the user in question and click on that same profile, does it show their posts?

On #1 the users are taken back to the login page and told incorrect login. Some users were able to clear their cache and get in. Other are still having problem.

2. I am able to see their posts.

I think Rick wants you to loginto their account - to see if you have an issues logging in as they do.

I have this same difficulty -- or had -- when I upgraded from 6.4.4 to 7.4.1. Quite a few of my users couldn't login with the same results as you noted. Clearing cache and blowing away cookies helped some of them but not all. Funny, but some of the ones having problems - their problems disappeared after the third or fourth try.

I've had no problem logging into their accounts, so I know it is not the system and it is a small percentage of users having the problem.

On the 2 issues I do not have any problems login into the users account. However on issue 2 when I login I was unable to see user posts.

Would asking the user to create a new account and then merging resolve these types of issues.

I have it blank. Do I add a number? Can I add the number then remove it?

i usually just do something simple like mysite741_

so the version # is always unique when i upgrade..

really up to you..

and if you THEN remove it, you really defeat the purpose of having the cookie prefix.. reason being is that anyone who hasn't come to the board, while you temporarily changed the cookie prefix won't be affected..

just change it and leave it.. and announce that everyone will need to re-login... you'll get the inevitable bitch/moaners, but that's alway the case wink

I have the login issue happening pretty regular, has changing the cookie prefix really worked for this issue?

if it happens frequently, then there is something else going on..

the cookie dealio is a kinda ONE SHOT to force everyone to re-login one time at least smile

I am thinking of giving it a shot and see what happens. I have never changed the cookie prefix ever, I noticed issues with it after going to 7.4

I have a member running Vista and IE and we have tried deleting cookies and his browser cache files with no luck. He is not the first in fact I have dealt with several just like his.

Thanks for your input, I will report back my results on this one.

Mike
