I just upgraded to 7.5 and the "Total # of posts allowed in a private topic" is set to 100 for all m y groups. Nevertheless, I had a member try to make a reply to one of his PMs and was told he had exceeded the max allowed, even though he only had 3 or 4 posts in his PM thread. What could the problem be?

Well I thought from your last post it was 7.5 you upgraded to. HEh HEh.
But anyway in site permissions there is a extra permission for private topics now. I think it is called "Max # of private topic participants "
No I believe it is "Total # of private topics allowed "
In any case there are three settings now for pm's.

Anyway here is the changelog post:
Quote
Added a new Site Permission of Max Private Topic Length. This allows the admin to set the max number of messages a private topic can contain while still allowing the users in that group to post.

Yes, and it is set for many participants and this guy only had two - himself and one other. There is also a new Site Permssions that is as I stated in my original post "Total # of posts allowed in a private topic" which is set to 100 for each group...so whay would he be told he had exceeded the number of posts allowed when he was only making a reply to a PM with 3 or 4 posts in it (and only two participants)?

Well the name from the changelog does not jive with the control panel but I edited my post above. There should be three permission settings now in site permissions for private topics.

You know what now that I look at it closer the new permission called "Total # of private topics allowed"
Is for each group not user so it would be quite high. The default for admin is like 10000.

I guess it would be nice to have a tool to see how may topics are in a group to judge by.

Basil, I'll probably need a support ticket for this with admin info and the username in question so I can take a closer look.

Rick, it seems to be working ok now (knock on wood) but if I continue to have a problem, I'll try to figure out the circumstances in more detail to give you sufficient info before I open a ticket.
