I've had a forum set up for several years that handles discussions from several websites I own -

I am finally at the point where I want to break the wine portion of this forum out into its own separate forum. I figure I might as well do this when I do the next upgrade.

I did just buy a second license.

What I want to end up is with TWO entirely separate forums that are exact duplicates to start. In the wine forum I will delete out all the parakeet and other stuff so it's solely about wine. In the non-wine forum I will delete out the wine content. So they will expand from there in completely different directions but the users won't have to re-make their accounts in whichever one they want to stay in.

This is on Windows and with MySQL.

So do I back up the directory of files, and copy it to a new location? Then back up the entire schema of ubb and restore it to a new one called WINE or something like that? Then hand alter a configuration in that new directory to use that new schema?

OK, I'm very nervous about the "streams mixing" and accidentally deleting items from the wrong area. I guess I'll take it slow and try to be very careful about what I do!

OK I think I am close. I did back up the database and all folders before starting. I ran the update script.

The original forum is back up and running fine, no issues. I really like that the "latest 30 days" box is now included - I used to have to do all that coding myself before! Thanks!

However, the new forum isn't working. Once I had the original forum all set, I backed up its database and restored it into a new schema - WINE. I made sure the username has access to WINE. I copied all the files from the old folder into a new one. I went into the new folder's config file and hand edited it so it points to that new directory and schema everywhere. However when I go to the new area -

I get an error.

How do I troubleshoot this?

OK it turned out to be a weird glitch in MySQL. I had permissions for Wine all set up. I stopped and restarted the server - and all the permissions went away. So I reset them again and it was set! So both are working
