7.5.2 - If a user clicks on "Notify" to e-mail a post, a post and all its replies or the entire thread the following do not work as expected:

1. If they "Enter an alternate sending name, if desired" that value is ignored and their real user name is used in the e-mail.

2. The bottom of the formatted e-mail contains the following, which is not true for the recipient: "This email sent to you because your profile and/or board configuration allows it. You may change your preferences at any time."

Problem verified both on my Forum and on this one.

Slightly off topic but related.

Can this "E-Mail" function be turned for unregistered guests? There is a group called "Guests" and it is enabled there but I am guessing that it would only work if I actually put a registered poster into that group. I'd like for unregistered visitors to be able to e-mail posts. How do I do that?

And - in the first post above - the word "Notify" in the first line should be "Email Post". Not sure how I made such an obvious typo!

Well I think this is a bug sorta.
1. I think the alernate name was intended for guests to use but still it sends the registered name
2. This is a generic email message that is in the footer of all emails sent by users and the board.

On your second post that is a bug because site permissions has a field called. "Can email posts to others ".
I enabled it for guests and it did not enable the feature for a guest. Even cleared cache and rebuilt content. No worky.

Checking the other site permissions for guests don't work either.

Also shout box has a issue with guests.
The site permission settings enable a guest to view the shout box. But the permission to use the shout box seems to not work either.

So Rick is this a bug?

The perm for guests not able to use the shoutbox is by design

Okay Giz I assumed so. And the other permissions noted above may be the same issue.
But then why do we have a setting for them?
Just to have something to click on and prompt a post in this forum I guess.
If this is all true I think we should enable the permissions to work or present a different set of permissions for guests.

My guess, rick just didn't build in an option to not show it for guest users?
