UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums General Suggestions and Feedback Request for email integration

I'd like to request an optional ability to allow users to interact with UBB via email, not just RSS, so there is a "listserve"-style interaction for users who prefer such means of communication. That way the user can receive and respond to threads via their email client, not a web browser.

The idea is to bridge the gap of "push" vs. "pull" information interface.

I prefer our UBB Forum implementation, but we have hardcore "legacy" users that prefer the old email listserve.

I have seen and used other systems that use a email system integrated with a forum board. But the only ones I have seen only archive the messages. The real activity is on the email lists only.
It has been a while since I used one of them so I don't recall a url at the present moment.

Even though a list server is a little outdated is is still fairly popular today. Especially with some of the older members of my group. So I would tend to agree it would be a nice to have. If possible.


BTW most of my users prefer to communicate by email only also.
I have tried to convert them but with little success.
But it took 10 years to get them to use email, let alone a list server. Then trying to move them to a forum board is like pulling teeth.

I've been around a long time doing this and I never did like the list server method myself, but I suppose the issue would be how to properly manage that in the DB tables.
