I noticed that all new members joining, by default:

USER_NOTIFY_ON_PM='no'
USER_EMAIL_WATCHLISTS='0'

Then they complain they don't get emails on new PMs or watched topics. These should be on by default a new user should not have to set it on, or have to go through all the settings to make it work.

E-mails have to be there choice in the UK or were spaming them.

A sly question in registeration saying

"Do you allow e-mails from these forum? Yes / No"
if yes turn it all on

This is just a classic example of I want it or I don't want it things. Which should be a control panel/preferences setting.
But it should be easy to modify to at least force the default on.
Maybe in V8.0??
