I've looked through the forums and can't seem to find this being reported already, so I apologize if I missed it.

One of my editors has her photo online already on her website -

http://www.bellaonline.com/site/moviemistakes

She wants to make that image her avatar in the forums. It's a common thing we do. She goes into her forum profile and puts that image's URL into the appropriate box and tries to save it. After a while she gets:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in E:\forums\libs\ubbthreads.inc.php on line 913

I tried logging in with my admin account and setting it for her. I get the same error!

Why is it timing out on a simple avatar addition?

Just a thought but if it works as a upload but not a URL.
It looks like the JPG file is on the same site.
Possibly you have hotlink protection turned on but have not specified that native hotlinking is allowed??

In the forums we don't allow uploads at all, only external links.

The JPG is actually on a different server - we have the forum server and the main site server as two separate servers. We don't have any hotlink protection turned on, because we often have people linking externally to images and content on the main site.

Here is another out there in space question.
what browser is the member using.
We have seen some issues crop up with IE8. Maybe this is just another one.
This was addressed in 7.5.3
You are not using v7.5.3 but it is a easy fix to add to your html includes.
Just fishing!

Well I just tried your site. Registered as RER and used the referenced URL for a avatar.
Same problem as you have, timeout issue. But I copied the JPG file to my server and referenced it as a avatar and it worked fine.
So it sounds like some configuration issue between your two servers.
Maybe a referrer issue since it looks like the forum is set as a subdomain?

Does anybody else reference a avatar file from your main server to your forum server.
