Hi, I need to allow Japanese characters to post in my forums.
The interface is all in English but some of the post themselves would be in Japanese.
I changed the Charset to utf8 in the language editor but there still seems to be some problem. Is there a setting in the database itself that prevents these characters from posting?
I am still behind on updating -- 7.4 and working on getting up to date. (Editing the templates every update is time consuming)
Does the latest version work or what changes do I need to make?

There are a few things in the current version that make it pretty tough to get it working flawlessly with existing data in the database. The collation and charset need to be changed on the tables, the problem being you can just do a straight convert due to the fulltext indexing, potential data loss, etc.
We're going to address this in 8.0 during the upgrade process.
