I'm trying to come up with a short, easy to remember, easy to say, easy to type domain name to setup for a forwarding email alias for logging into websites.. I was using my old ISP, gwi.net, that was short and sweet, but I jsut switched ISPs and my new one is a mile long, and I want one other than my personal emails for signing up to various sites with.. any suggestions? (that aren't already taken)

Finding a decent domain name nowadays is always tough as so many are taken, especially short ones. You could try something with your name, initials, etc. badfrog.com is taken, but badfroggie.com is available

i tried several like those, didn't "do it for me" so to speak...
i came up with a couple, though nothing as short and sweet as gwi.net
notyouortech.com
not exactly short, but easy to say and remember.

I have a couple of funny ones that I own; i've been trimming my portfolio lately though, down from 100 domains to about 45 of my own, and still slowly eliminating some...

How about ssbadfrog.com ?
I did the same with my name. The email possibilities are why I went this way.

Or my new one. emptypocketsstudio.com
Everyone I mentioned that to say they will never forget that one either.

I picked out a couple
I'm always getting called for tech support.. so I went with "notyourtech.com", easy enough to remember and type. I picked up a couple other's while I was at it.
what service do you guys use to register/purchase domains? I have been using powerpipe.com

I'm a reseller for a Godaddy subsidiary, Wild West Domains. I would go with one of them or Godaddy themselves. Just my personal preference.

And myself, as a user who was jipped by godaddy would recommend going to an eNom reseller, as personal preference

This is a weird post for me since I want to grab a name that is taken already. They expire in the next two months. Looking at this I might have a chance with a .biz name but not a .com Looking at domaintools.com it takes me to http://www.cheap-registrar.com to back order a TLD. I am willing to try it but does anyone have a better method to reserve a name? It costs like $18.95 to back order a name there.

The only thing I'll ever use Godaddy for is backordering domain names, it seems to be just about the only thing they can do right...
I'll never buy another ssl certificate from them though (something happened during the signup that invalidated the ssl cert i bought which they refused to simply regenerate the certificate (with the information that was already there)).

I have several 5-letter, brandable .com domains myself. For registrar, I always use these 3:
Moniker, GoDaddy, Namecheap.
But now, I prefer Moniker to the other 2.

I have been collecting domain names too but do not seem to be doing much with them though. Waste of money. But seems cheap though from godaddy.

why don't you try using the highest grossing movie name of all time, Avatar I have avatarfilm.info and it's going to be expired. No plan to extend it though. So it's up there for grabs

i need one domain name for my web developing process... Already i got one domain for my business... I think your domain is not priced.. i got my domain from here @$1.99 only... also in there i got the free hosting services also... Ummm, I'd be very leery of someplace offering free hosting and domain names for such a low price. Sounds like a spam factory or worse to me.

That would be my guess, SteveS. They seem to think this is the way to get 'business'. There are only 2 companies I'd ever host with, one is where I'm at now and the other would be with Rick.
