UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support SMTP Error when trying to log in immediately after install.

I just installed UBB.threads 6.2 on a Windows NT 4 intranet server under IIS 4. When attempting to log in for the first time using the administrative account I designated, I got the following message:

PHP Warning: mail(): SMTP server response: 505 Client was not authenticated in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ubbthreads\start_page.php on line 106

Does this mean that the server's SMTP server needs to be properly configured, and there are not any settings that need to be changed within UBB.threads, PHP or MySQL?

There's no mail settings in UBB.Threads - it uses the built-in PHP mail function.

If you are seeing errors when threads trys to send emails, then you need to adjust PHP.

For windows servers you'll need to adjust the SMTP server settings in the php.ini file and restart apache. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Or, since you are on WIndows you will most likely need to stop then start IIS.
