So I am sitting here looking at this and I was wondering if the content in the left and right side bars are customizable. Can the content be placed on either side and placed in any order or are we stuck with what we see here?

When I ask "can it be" I mean - is there a layout option or control panel - NOT A MOD!

You can set the order of the sidebars and what islands see in them via your Control Panel. There are even custom islands available.

Now that I have my own UBBthreads7 version running (awesome!) I am in the process of customizing and all of the control panel options are pretty self explanetory. I found where to change the content and turn on and off the sidebars - great! But I have visited several featured sites and noticed a login island on the top left sidebar in their Portal pages, I want to use that too. I see the login template... thought I would paste that into the edit box (within the lines) for a custom island then add that to the sidebar - that did not work. confused

How do I create this?

How do you create a links island?

I'll tackle the easy one first. The links island is easy. Here is what I have in the custom island for our Site Links:

Code
$body = <<<EOF
<a href="https://www.ubbcentral.com">Home</a><br />
<a href="https://www.ubbcentral.com/features.php">Features</a><br />
<a href="https://www.ubbcentral.com/docs.php">Documentation</a><br />
<a href="https://www.ubbcentral.com/purchase.php">Pricing & Order</a><br />
<a href="http://www.infopop.com/members/members.php">Members Area</a>
EOF;

For the login one you'd need to do a form that asks for the username/password and posts to start_page.php. It's similiar to the login.tmpl template just the form part however. If you can't get this figured out I'll cobble it together as soon as I get a chance.

I keep getting errors - probably because I really don't know what I am doing with the code. frown Since I am the King of cut & paste I'll have to wait for someone to post the code. I'll keep trying. Thank you for the help with the other stuff. I'm having a blast with this!
