Quick question. I own several sites using PHPBB and SMF (and one with vBulletin). If I want to migrate my SMF sites to UBBThreads, is there a guide that I can follow, or a migration script that I can run so as to not lose content and user credentials (for my existing users)?

Thanks for your help

Yes, we have an import script available for SMF. Basically it's pretty straight forward. Installing UBB.threads. Grabbing the importer from the members area and uploading it, and then filling in the info for the SMF database and letting it run.

Pretty much everything will come over except for Polls, Karma and User Passwords due to the encryption differences, so your users would just need to request a temporary password once the import is complete.

How about migrating from vBulletin? Is it as easy as from SMF?

Yep, it's pretty much the exact same process, just grab the vBulletin importer instead of the SMF importer wink

Will all the attachments and uploads by my vBulletin members also included in the import file? Or would I have to keep all of them and copy and paste them into the UBB.threads forum?

Yes, I forgot about that. There is one extra step when importing from vBulletin. After installing UBB.threads, you'd register your admin account and then login to the control panel and setup both the file upload and avatar upload storage directories.

Once you've done that, you'd then run the importer. vBulletin stores both the file uploads and avatars in the database, and during the import it will make those into actual files inside the directories specified in the UBB Control Panel.

With that extra step, all attachments will remain intact.
