i want to enable 'Add this topic to my Watched Topics' and 'Add this thread to my Watched Topics' by default, so that members get an email whenever someone posts or replies to a topic.

i've looked at the template files, but can't see an obvious way i can check the checkboxes.

any suggestions appreciated.

The checkboxes for those are currently generated in the scripts, newpost/newreply. Just search for checkbox in those scripts and you'll see the bit of code and you can add checked='checked' to each.

for my version of UBB, 7.4.1, the changes had to be made in the scripts/newpost.inc.php and scripts/newreply.inc.php files. the template files, editable from the control panel, just contained smarty code for $addtofav.

i just looked for addtofav in the inc.php files, then added the checked='checked' code to the input tag.

works a treat!
