Congratulations Rick. I'm sure the new enterprise will be a success. Just celebrated our 10 year anniversary using UBB and look forward to another 10 and then some.

Happy New Year

I hope this means great things for both .threads, and for Rick personally. I never considered the pricing to be high, but maybe the drop will bring lots of new customers round.

Congratulations, Rick!

Congratulations - glad we can talk about this now smile

Just one question, which I am sure will get raised.

How does this affect people with wwwthreads licences who have always been grandfathered in and given a 75% renewal discount.

Also is there an alternative number for overseas callers who may not be able to dial the toll-free number. Or cannot convert the letters when dialling wink

Congratulations Rick smile. Look like there is a bug in the new members area. I just added my two UBB licenses and can't download any 7.x versions with my Gold license:

Good going, Rick! I like this new business model.

Also nice to see you pop in, Dave. I'm still a big fan of your skins for the UBB.

With the lower pricing, hopefully this means that UBB.threads can win back former UBB customers who switched to vBulletin or other forum software packages. With vB 4.0's higher pricing, I think this was the right time to lower prices on UBB.

Congratulations Rick! It feels like meeting an old friend coming back to WCSoft. =)

Let's hope I'll be running the same great forum system for another 11+ years!

Just need to think of something to do with my second license so I can upgrade that too. =)

I may just have to look at the gold licensing now... you guys never cease to amaze the heck out of me. We went from classic to threads 2 years ago (when I took over the forums for cyberwar back in 2007) and that was a huge upgrade then.. now looking back it almost feels like yesterday. Now I own my own license and forums talk about things changing.

That all said, I am "all in" with the new look, feel, and restructuring.

Great work again Rick and congratulations.

Where is the price for the forever license?

I seen this coming with Dave's bet as well as moving to "new" servers and such. I just performed this same exact type of thing with the sale of one of my company assets. Being a web company it pretty much went the same way, move to a new server (even though we own our own servers and net block just like Groupee), Little hints (Just like Dave's), and then the big announcement.

Probably not tongue just trying to convey the support level back at Rick and team that they have shown me the past 8 years or so.

The Gold license option was removed out of necessity. It seems merchant accounts have changed quite a bit, possibly with all of the banking things going on, and no bank would approve a merchant account that offered lifetime software licenses.

WWWThreads License holders can renew for $25.

And yes, we'll be looking at an alternative number for overseas callers as soon as we can.

Congratulations Rick!
I look forward to a great product continuing its growth.
What does this mean to Gold License holders? No longer any priority support? Will we still have Lifetime Access to members area?

Gold license holders are still marked as such in our ticketing system so we'll still carry over that priority support, although hopefully with the new staff, nobody will need to wait long.

Gold license holders will have lifetime access to both the members area and the support ticket system.

Rick, I think your a very good programmer and have the ability to take your thoughts and make them in to a very solid product that anyone can use.

This past year I had decided to seek a new message board product for the lack of a full community type atmosphere after the comment was posted that the only interest was in message board software and not a full community related web portal. It appears that the decision was in part Groupee's decision as I now see you are going to implement those other add on's requested by other users.

For this reason I will now stick with UBB and wait for those to be completed. Also the price reduction is a great thing for those of us that have several licenses and with to purchase more in the future.

Keep up the good work and congratulations and regaining the ownership of the product you created.

At first I was scared when I read the email!
Now I am excited its a return to the good old days!

My use of the products goes way back from the time when wwwthreads was freeware and I have continued to use the product (updated of course) on my companies website all these years smile

I am very excited by what I see concerning version 8 and returning everything to Rick is another good move!

Congrats Rick!

I just see it on the order page:
http://support.socialstrata.com/order/order.php

Whereby I'm not sure to order or not wink
On that page (link above) the price is 99 $ and on the purchase page 59 $:
https://www.ubbcentral.com/purchase.php.

Is there one special price for someone who purchased UBB in 2000 and owns three vBs meanwhile?

Kind regards, m.

The socialstrata one is old and you shouldn't end up there at all anymore. If you still do, please let me know what link you clicked on.

Right now, the best we can do is the 10% off with the coupon code. So when ordering 3-5 licenses, you'd pay $134 per license and then get 10% off the total order.

Once we get through the original transition then we might be able to do some type of conversion special.

Use the link that shows the $59 purchase price. If you get the 10$ off coupon that drops to $53.10. There are then other options available for purchasing new licenses in the way of discounts for multiple licenses. Since I already had an active license I got the multiple license discount when I purchased my 2nd one.

If 59 $ is the last word then it could be acceptable.

I just recently converted a vB 3.x site over to UBB and it went off without a hitch. I agree on Vb, they've become so egotistical over there and raised prices so much I could no longer justify sticking with them.
