I'll answer this, but it's pretty self explanatory, especially since your IP has logged into multiple accounts.
Because this site is for the support of UBB.threads and we've had a rash of recent visitors signing up for the sole purpose of putting in their homepage into their profile (even though these links are 'nofollow'. That's not what this site is for. So, we're not allowing profile edits until you make 10 posts. If those 10 posts are clearly just spam type posts, nonsensical, or obvious post count bumpers, then we can deal with the account accordingly.

Forums are quickly becoming an easy way to gain backlinks. It makes great sense to have newbies post 10 times with relevant information and keep the forums what their designed for. I'm new but I don't mind because my reason for joining was for helpful information

I also have just signed up and I notice that I can't view / edit my profile. Now, after reading Rick's explanation above, I understand why he has taken this measure. I am sure this will reduce the number of spammers. What I don't understand is why people would want to have backlinks knowing that the links are 'no-follow'. Seems strange!

they really give a hard time on us just to view our profile not a hard time at all, you have to show that you're here for a valid purpose before you EARN the PRIVILEGE of having a public profile. anyone with a little common sense would completely understand the reasons for this and wouldn't have a problem with it. but of course, the spammers that keep hitting this site are too stupid to realize that the link backs WILL NOT WORK because of the NO FOLLOW rule, yet they continue to hammer away, making a nuisance of themselves, creating extra work for the admins, and occasionally some extra fun for the rest of us...

I think the idea is to post relevant content posts - ask questions, respond to others - join into the community.

I am new here, and I have read your information, and it does clearly state what we need to do to change our profile. Guess they just dont want to read.. maybe they need pics!

Michele in order to sort out the good, the bad, and the ugly there is a 10 post limit set before a new user can edit their profile to ween out spamers.
