I entered the coupon code MINDRAVEN and it said invalid. Is the 10% discount discontinued?

Maybe that is exceeded now.

UBB is only $40 more, and has a lot more features, and with the upcoming release of version 8, a much more robust software package than just a forum.

I too would much rather go with the UBB as well, you won't be able to match the support (user to user or company support), not to mention the product is far older so the code is far more mature (not to mention the featureset).

I lucked out on the 10% off, but even if that wasn't there I would have purchased UBBThreads. Granted this was the software in an older version that I was use to on another site, but looking at different options I always came back to this one.

Shame it's not still available - have to agree that UBB is the way to go - I have worked with phpBB for a number of clients that insist that they should not pay for a BB platform, and whilst it's free, it's also one of the most targeted applications by spammers, hackers and spiders.

Yeah but how do you justify it? I mean if your not in business to make money off a forum?

Better product, cleaner code, doesn't steal code from other companies (:cough:vbulletin started life as a ubb clone:cough:), better support...

Is this a forum for your company?

I just started a forum and my forum has nothing to do with my business. I did the forum because it is something I enjoy (subject wise) and there was a room in the niche area for another forum. My goal is to have Affiliate banners and sell advertising to support the cost of the board; software and hosting. If I make more than that it is a bonus right now. If the growth of the board stays going like it is then in a year or two those goals might change.

I don't use my board to make money. I use UBB threads because I think that if you are going to do something do it right, and because the support here is second to none. There is no other board out there that I would even consider at any cost (even free) so I guess I justify it by saying, "if I am going to have a forum board, I would rather give my visitors the best possible forums I can." UBB (for me) makes the grade.

I recently renewed my license with no coupon code, and no complaints!

I agree with what Yarp said.

If you don't want to spend anything there are several good quality open source products, but that isn't the category that UBB is in. But if you want to purchase a professional product where you'll feel like the the developer actually listens to the users then there is no better choice than UBB.

...and I agree with you!

Time and again it's been proven that you get what you pay for. smile
