I am running UBB.classic™ 6.7.3

Suddenly today I got this error:

The operating system has run out of file locks to give me.

Please ask the administrator to contact the web hosting provider.

The exact error returned by the operating system is:
No locks available


The hosting company has no idea what is wrong, and neither do I.

For weeks we had been getting a sporadic error:

"No input file specified."

Any help on where to start or what to tell the hosting company?

From the error it looks like possible the MySQL server isn't running since the error is stating that it can't connect to it. I'd have them verify that it's running and that it's accepting connections.

Also if you are having a MYSQL issue. This is not a classic version. Classic is a flat file system without the use of MYSQL.

Sorry, I am running 7.3.1.

The problem was that the config file got overwritten to 0 bytes. Not sure how that could have happened as no one was working in the forum backend at the time. Once I restored the config file all was ok.

But we are still getting the sporadic:

"No input file specified."

Any idea what that might be?

There was a issue with older versions like yours. Depends on what feature was used to generate the error but I recall it was a simple fix that a field was missing on the form tags.
If the error occurs on just browsing the forums not posting something. You may want to open a support ticket.

As far as the config file going to 0 bytes. I would suppect that is a issue with your host provider. So you may want to keep a current backup to re-upload if it happens again.

You're running threads, why even bother going to the old UBB control panel?


This is your UBB threads having a problem connecting to your MySQL, which, as you determined was a 0 byte config file.


This is the backend to an entirely different software package, UBB.classic. They have nothing to do with each other in any way.
