Hey there, Not sure what's happening but I seem to have an issue when moving a topic to a subforum. The original topic still shows up in the old location (when the old location is clicked on it goes to the topic in the NEW location). Have tried leaving a marker and no marker but I can't seem to get rid of the topic in the old location! Any help appreciated!

Are you talking about the "Last Post" column? Or just in the subforum itself?

Was the original topic stickied?

No, it's nothing to do with the last post column. It's still in the actual forum itslef AS WELL as being in the new location (the subforum). When you click on the topic in the forum, it DOES take you to the same topic in the subforum, so it looks like it has moved BUT it still appears to be in the old location (the forum). It's not a marker either, it's a "real" looking topic entry.

No JM, they weren't stickied.

I want to delete the orig in the forum BUT I have a feeling that that would delete the subforum one as well:-(

Well if when you moved the topic you did not elect to leave a pointer for x number of days you just may have a cache issue.

So you could try manually clearing the cache.

Sometimes you may need to actually go into the directory (FTP) connection to the cache directory.
Delete all files except for the htm and html files.
Then run the clear cache utility in the control panel.

Cache doesn't seem to be the issue as the original (which shouldn;t be there) DOES point to the copied topic in the subforum.

I'm really tempted to delete the old topic entry but I just know that it would trash the copied one too! Argh!

I have had similar problems in the past, which were mostly due to topics being stickied. If you delete the post it will delete it in both places. At least that has been my experience. You can find out by looking at the topic number. For this thread the link url is https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/236724/ 236724 is the topic number. Look at your posts and see if they have the same number. If they are then deleting one will delete the other.

I'd try moving it back to the original location and then try the move topics tool from the admin to see if that moves it without leaving something behind.

Hey, that seemed to work! Here's what I did in case anyone else might benefit.

* Moved the (previoulsy moved) topic back to the parent forum.
* Stickied it (and got an error message about it being a duplicate entry or something like that) and then unstickied it.
* Did the move via the control panel
* Et voila!

I'm glad to hear that you got the topic properly moved. I'm not sure if moving it via the control panel adds anything other than a few more steps, but I thought it was worth a try since the other way messed up.
