I am new to this UBBthreads and have been studying how it works by reading the manuals and the message board. I am currenty attempting to determine what file and where is the master database for the Board that I am administering. Our website is a rat's nest at the moment and I am attempting to clean out the deadwood but I do NOT want to delete any databases. I am mainly interested in how the original member data is uploaded, what file should I look for and how can I modify that file and download a copy or print a copy from the UBB site. I would like a step by step reference if there is such a thing.

Any help will be appreciated.

to find out which DB you are using, open includes/config.inc.php

you will see which DB that is being used..

after that, you can backup you DB in many ways..

ideally, if you are a small forum.. you could prolly use phpMyAdmin from your cPanel or equiv..

you also have the ability to use ubb.threads admin and backup tables individually (very slow)

additionally, (if you have it) you can shell into your box and back it up at the command line..

just depends upon the site / hosting package you have there smile

My thread Gizmo's UBB.Threads 7.x Transfer Guide for Dummies (or not) shows how to backup your forums via SSH/Command Line.
