I know, FaceBook is a dirty word, but it's a force we're obviously gonna have to address. I didn't have an account until last week when I signed up to set something up for the car club's website I help manage...but in doing so, I learned that their were "groups" and "pages", neither of which I know the slightest about.

So, I'm asking my fellow webmasters who have integrated with FB: what are the pros/cons of each?

You'll want a "Page", groups don't do much at all, whereas pages are more scalable.

You'll also find that most "integration" scripts (such as WIBYA) use pages and don't support groups.

Things Pages offer that Groups do not: Vanity URLs, Applications, Messaging all users via Updates, Visitor Statistics, Events, Ad's (it's an option somewhere).

I have an active "group" for my site, with 931 members. Is there a way to convert to a "page?"

I didn't create it, but I inherited it.

Nope, they're created really to be individual... Your best bet is to make a "page" and encourage people in the "group" to fan it.

I just created a "page." It will take a while to get it up to snuff.

I did both, I haven't used my group page in ages, but use my "fan" page all the time... so much easier to work with.
