Hey, I'm upgrading to 7.5 from 6.5.5.
As I understand it, I install 7.5 from scratch. THEN I run the import script.
The question is, do I create a new database entirely for the 7.5 install bit, or can I use the same DB as I used in 6.5.5?
Will the 7.5 install trash the old w3t_ tables?

you can use the same DB, since table names are mutually exclusive w3t_ vs ubbt_

Well the import worked fine except....
After import none of my users are in the "Users" permissions group, so no one can see any of the forums.
Any idea why / how this data was lost?? And any suggestion on how to fix it?

THey probably got stuck into the moderators group. I've seen this happen on some imports, though I'm not sure why yet. If you want to send me a PM with your forum login info and URL I can get it fixed up for you.

Don't have a clue why. But what group are they in? There is a tool in member management to move/change groups. Depending on how complicated your groups are will depend on how difficult it will be.

Aha, that's what appears to have happened. We have 23368 "moderators" and no one in the main, default Users group.
I have sent you a PM Rick

Thanks Rick, that seemed to solve the problem.
Unfortunately, I had to back out of the install because it became apparent that a lot of other settings from 6.5.5 were not copied over, such as individual headers for each forum, icons, global header/footer, all of the admin settings such as "site rules" / registration fields, etc etc. So I have user/forum/post data loaded in there, but it's going to be stale when I'm ready to launch, since I am running 6.5.5 again right now.
If I run the 6.5.5 to 7.5 script later for a 2nd time, will it duplicate all data, or just load in stuff that is present in the 6.5.5 DB but not in the 7.5 one? If the first case is true, what do I need to delete in order to be able to run the script from scratch to reload everything in?
Thanks!

You'll have to drop the database for your ubb.t7 install and go through the install steps again if you already started an import.

Thanks, looks like I just need to drop the new tables, then run createtables.php, then import, right? No need to run install.php again?
