Hello,
Not sure if I post this in the correct thread...
When our users want to request their login information, they do get the message that an email has been sent, but never receive the email.
I have tried it myself and neither did I receive the email. Can anyone help me with this please?
Thank you, Lynn

Ok, I have sent a post per email to my account and after half an hour I still haven't received it. So most likely the email function is desactivated. How can I solve this please?

Yep. First thing to check is access the email account outside of UBB directly and send a email. It could be several things such as the email account is over some set quota, need to specify a smtp server, the account is blacklisted or something is hosed on your account that your host needs to resolve.

Hello, It's only the forum email that isn't working. The email account isn't over the quota. <need to specify a smtp server> where can i check this? Is There a certain location in the Control Panel where I can look after this problem? Thank you, Lynn

One more thing, today I have received the following message from a forum user:
<<i am constantly ( everytime i want to post) have to request a new password because when i change my password it automaticaly changes back to a 40 character password that i (obviously) cant figure it out? Any one expieriencing the same problem. if so, would you happen to know a way to fix it? thnx in advance.>>
Do you think it all has to do with the problem already described above?

Well Lynn. Some of this does not make sense. I registered on your site, sent a post and requesed a lost password. All emails were sent in seconds.
As far as the user goes. The only way to get a password is with a email. It is a temporary password and does not change the original password. So the user needs to go into their profile and enter a new password. And if the user is going into their profile it will be encripted as 20 dots even if the password is 9y5rEG.
Far as I can tell your site is working fine. So I would suspect either your host is having intermittent issues or some security software is blocking delivery of the emails.

Anyway to answer your question about where to set your smtp server. on version 7.5.5 GOTO Control Panel ยป Primary Settings expand the Advanced Options. Look for Use specified SMTP Server: Don't forget to read the note just below it.

I would also have the user check their spam folder.. as sometimes things are sent there from a forum instead of their inbox... and ruben is right, it will ALWAYS look like 50 dots across the password box even if the pw is only 3 letters/numbers/characters. So the password isn't changed it is just showing that one is present.
