As the title says, is there a way to list the threads instead of the post in a search? I had a member ask me this tonight...

I have asked this before quite some time ago. Nobody responded on my question either.
Not without some kind of mod. I think SD mentioned one some time ago. Or he mentioned he did it for some site.
From memory I think it will be something down the road for v8.? We had this in older versions like classic and I wish it would return. I hate the results on a search that lists every post/reply instead of just each thread. You can't keep up with if you read one already.

yah, what i did was a modification to dosearch.inc.php
it removed the duplicate hits that you invariable encounter when you get a hit on a thread subject..
if a thread has 100 replies, you get 100 hits.
this modification only returned ONE HIT which was the link to the thread itself (1st post)
what you're askin for would be along the same lines of difficulty.. not too hard..

He He He. So in Peep terms what does that mean? I think what he wants is what I was looking for before. Search all posts but only return the thread. For instance I search for dosearch.inc.php . Assuming all four posts on this thread post/reply has this term in this example I get one result from the primary post #238739 in the search results Search - Threads instead of posts? I open the link and I find all the reply's including yours 4 down at #238787 . But I don't get four search results in the same topic.

SO are you saying you can only search the subject and do it?

what i did was to separate the search into just 2 options. subject OR body not both... then the subject search only returns 1 hit per topic
