I'm trying to make sure I have the RSS setup right. I go to the control panel and to RSS FEEDS. It shows the different forums. Obviously I need the active box checked, and a cache time. But when I click on EDIT the next page at the bottom shows Include Body in Feed- Number of characters.
What is that? Theres a 0 in that box now.

Anything else I need to do to make sure its going to work?

the number you would type is the number of characters to excerpt in each RSS item.

it's kinda like a topic preview in the feed giving you (for example) say the 1st 300 characters.

then peeps reading the feed, see the excerpt and decide to click on it and read the entire thread wink

what your describing sounds like the TOPIC TOOLTIP PREVIEW, where you hover your cursor over top of a post to get the popup. Am I thinking of the wrong feature?

yes / no

that is also the topic tooltip preview idea as well, but when you have an RSS reader it's 'preview' would be the text that you supply in the RSS excerpt..

so even though they are similar, the are two distinct things

that's why i said "it's kinda like.." wink

How can I add new forums to the RSS feed? I had users ask to increase the number of posts that are include in the RSS feed. I increased it from 10 to 100, and no change of topic numbers. Does it take awhile to build up?

I don't believe if you change the number of posts that it will cause it to rebuild going back in time. But as you have new posts added it should increase.

At least I know this to be true for the Number of characters in the feed, if you increase it the change will happen with new posts afterwards.
