How do I configure the forum to allow users to post images they download onto the forum to be displayed in the posts?

It seems very confusing to a user, to have to upload pictures first, in the gallery, and then make a new post which displays the picture with a question or something.
It seems like the file manager can attach files to the post, but then the user has to click on the file to see it.
I'm wondering where to find a configuration or an add-on or something..
Thanks!

i coded an add-on for quite a few sites now that allow uploading directly into a post http://www.simhq.com/_commentary/all_043a.htmlthat is the latest one, where they wrote an article about it but from standard stock threads, you'd need to either link to external images, attach to your post or use the gallery..

It seems like the file manager can attach files to the post, but then the user has to click on the file to see it. The users will have to click on the file if it's larger than the specified filesize limit in the control panel for inline images. By default this is pretty small, so you'd need to update it if you normally have larger pictures.

LOL, I jumped the gun on that. So I wouldn't be able to do this myself, no link to a tutorial on adding this?

We run Photopost over at the Monte Club. You can check it out at http://www.firstgenmc.com/photopost/ We have been using it for a little over a year and the members love it. It was pretty easy to add to the site, and I have it pulling random images to display on the forum.

I've used it; it's a good non-free/3rd party addon

Something smells fishy. I don't think that's an A10 in his picture labeled as an A 10. hmm.
Oh, good job SD.

lol David... well, i am a complete n00b where it comes to combat / simulation, so i'd trust whatever you said really.. only catch is that those guys take it real seriously down to the number of rivets in the wing etc etc.. so well, i guess it doesn't matter anyway edit: now that i googled he warthog, there is no way that pic is of one.. http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_450a.html is an article on them too... so i'll agree with you that it ain't a warthog in that pic.. an F-something? mudhen f-15c ? no clue my guess is that is maybe the 'enemy' planes in the A-10C sim they were touting... oh well

I believe it to be an F-15, you're right.
I like your add-on more than photopost. Automatic resizing to fit the page is beautiful. We've put that into Eve and it goes over very well with both admins and users that don't like page stretch due to oversized images.

Will there be an importer for PP to Threads 8?

We wrote a custom image attachment tied into PP and it works very well. If anyone is interested in the code let me know and I'll make it public. I want to eventually code something so that it uses the smaller thumbnail image and then have a jQuery-like full screen image like lightbox.
