Not sure if its a bug but my users are having a hard time registering... sign up for board When I complete the registration, and type in the verification characters, I am told the “image verification” is incorrect.
Either 4 or 5 characters come up in the image verification block, not 6 as stated in the instructions. I have typed the letters/numbers shown many times, but cannot register.

Take a look in your "images/captcha/fonts" and "images/captcha/backgrounds" directories, you should only have the index.html file, 2 image files (in the backgrounds directory) and 2 font files (.ttf); is there anything else in them?

the only other thing is a php.ini file- its in all of them

That's probably causing the issue as that directory should only contain an index.html file and font files.

You also need to be careful with using FTP clients that place a log file in any directory uploads.
That will also hose the captcha.
If it sees any extraneous files.

this got me too on an install i was helping out with. temporary dreamweave _notes dirs all over the place  Gizmo, thank you it saved me some headaches...
