One of my Members sent me this email below, I was hoping someone could give me some advice.

Quote
I must be missing something on my home computer. I can access the site no issues here at work (XP format). Also at home with the wife's laptop (vista) no issue at all. When I try from my home computer, most of the time it will allow me to log in, then will stick or stay at the main page, then give me the not connected status. I reset my explorer setting, reset the security to defaults, did a restore, etc. It is a nice computer, 10x better than mine at work. It is also an XP format, dual processor, and will access everything very quickly with the exception of the your site. I am by no means computer illiterate, I just cant understand why only that single one. Any ideas to go with???

This could be kinda tough to pinpoint the problem.
Meaning it could be a lot of things.
If it is just the one user.

1. He has connection issues with the internet. It just appears to him it is just your site.
2. His firewall settings may be in play.
3.His browser internet settings may be in play
4. Cookie issue?

I would start with asking what browser and version he is using.
What internet security he is using.
When does it happen.

As far as being a fast computer means nothing for just opening the summary page. Meaning not downloading anything.
Unless you have a lot of high intensive graphics on your main page.

Try using the same browser he is.
Then I would suggest to him to disable not reset all security settings. Browser, firewall bla bla. One at a time.

This could be easier if you were in front of his machine.

PS
the not connected status means the browser could not connect to your page. So either he has a connection issue or your host does.
Could it be he uses a different physical connection to the internet.(laptop on wifi and desktop on hardwire?)

Also I did not want to get into this because it would require the user to test.
His connection may be different than yours.
Not just speed but what hops he takes to get to your site.

He would need to use ping or traceroute your site to see if somewhere along the way it stalls.
