Hi all. Just tried to set up a feed for one of our forums and got this message when trying to subscribe from the browser address bar and from Forum Options: 404 Error File Not Found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Could not find anything in Permissions related to RSS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tee

The feeds are stored in the cache folder like: /forums/cache/rss5.xml where in this case rss5 is forum number five.
So either your folder file permissions are incorrect for the cache folder. Or you overlooked the enable selection.
GOTO Control Panel » RSS Feeds check if the feed shows it enabled.
Also check Control Panel » Permission Checks and see if you have a okay for the cache folder you can also click on each item in the check and it will expand to check the files that are in it.

Be sure your cache is chmodded 777 then try to rebuild the cache and see if the file has been created.

Hi Ruben. 1. Yes, the Feed for the forum is active: - Cache time = 5 minutes - Create RSS Feed is checked - RSS Feed time. I tried both New Posts and Recent Posts. Left it at Recent Posts - Number of topics/posts to include = 10 - Include body in feed. I set that to 200. 2. Yes, the cache folder is ok. Here are the files: public_calendar.php OK portal_box_5.php OK portal_box_3.php OK top_posters.php OK forum_stats.php OK top_posters_30.php OK search.php OK portal_box_1.php OK online_now.php OK portal_box_10.php OK portal_box_6.php OK popular_topics.php OK portal_box_2.php OK featured_member.php OK post_island_11.php OK shoutbox.php OK portal_box_7.php OK custom_tag_cache.php OK portal_box_9.php OK new_users.php OK portal_box_8.php OK forum_cache.php OK birthdays.php OK index.html OK portal_box_4.php OK Directory Check The xml file ( /ubbthreads/cache/rss1.xml ) is not generating as I checked the cache folder online. Did I miss something else? Thanks!

The directory was 755 so I changed it to 777. Do you mean clear cache in the CP now?
Thanks

Try what Gizmo suggested, Clear the cache to force a rebuild. Then see if you have any feed files in the cache folder. I do know in some cases to clear the cache. You may need to ftp to the folder and delete everything except for the html file.
Another thing you may try is while in Control Panel » RSS Feeds select the my feeds tab and enable the feature. That will enable a feeds selection in the mystuff menu.

Sorry, chmod to 777 and clearing the cache allowed my reader to pick up the feed.
Have a great New Years.

One more question, if I may, to round this out. I can't find where to enable the "My Feeds" option, as per the FAQ: My Feeds If the administration has enabled the "My Feeds" option, you can manage RSS feeds from the "Feeds" link in the "My Stuff" dropdown in the navigation area. We have only one feeded forum, is that why "My Feeds" don't show up under the "My Stuff" dropdown? The feed does show up under "Forum Options" just fine. Thanks, tee

When I clicked on My Stuff/Feeds it was quite a shock to see all the forums listed with the RSS icon beside them even after reading the blurb before enabling My Feeds. Yikes. I guess I was expecting to just see the one forum we had enabled to be shown rather than the entire 20 forums. I know, I have permissions for all of them but, what's the question, how do people know which ones have been enabled if all the forums show up with RSS icons for their permissions if only a select few (or one, as in this case) has been enabled?
Thanks again, tee
