Hello all,

Question 1

Our website/forum is basically set up as such:

[Our name] Forums Online: Message Boards for the [keywords] » Forums » Forums » General Discussion

We have an extra category/subcatagory. Could i get rid of one of the extras -- consolidate -- simply by deleting the category? Delete it from the CP>Forums>Category Settings?

Question 2

How can insert some keywords in to the portal page?

thanks in advance
you guys have been an immense help

You always need to have at least one category. Are all of your forums in the same category?

As for the keywords, do you mean meta keywords?

You don't even need to delete a catagory.
Just goto:
Control Panel » Forum Settings
Select the details link.

Change the Parent: setting
If you choose a forum as the parent, this forum will be made a subforum.

This will change the category the forum is in

Thanks Guys.

Based on your answers and how this forum is set up I found other ways to achieve the desired effect.

(sorry for not replying sooner)

Referring to the "http://[hostsite.com]/boards/ubbthreads.php" page.

No, not metawords. As i think i have that well covered.

But i don't have any key search terms directly printed on the portal page. I'm trying to maximize the SEO thing. I have key search terms on every other single page.

I believe that a footer could do it. But then, i think, i'd also have those same search terms on every other page which they're already on -- doubling the same search terms for each page. And that would make the forum look way too busy -- and look too much like a desperate attempt for web traffic.

Or am i just worrying about this one page too much? Although this "portal page" does get a fair portion of of hits so i'd think i'd want some keywords on it.

EDIT to add:

Now I'm looking at this forum and it seems to have no "portal page." It goes strait from "Forums" to the main host (non forum website). That'd work for me also.
