Is there a single file that assembles the "Forum List"? If yes, what is it?

I have found that when the sub-forums are all listed on the same line (one after the other) they tend to be ignored. I'd like to display them as a vertical list.

For an example from this forum I'd like to take:

News and Announcements
News or announcements concerning UBB.threads
Moderator: Joe, Alice, James
Subforums: Announcement/Changelog Discussion, Release Notes & Changelog, Hosting Announcements (38), Monthly Newsletters (4)

And change it to:
News and Announcements
News or announcements concerning UBB.threads
Subforums:
---Announcement/Changelog Discussion
---Release Notes & Changelog
---Hosting Announcements (38)
---Monthly Newsletters (4)

Moderator: Joe, Alice, James

I have found that when sub-forums are listed on a single line, one after the other, they tend to be ignored.

It may not be worth it with Version 8 coming soon (and if yes please tell me!), but I'd like to change the layout of the way the forums and sub-forums are listed. [I'm thinking it might be a simple case of editing a file to move a few things around and to add some html.]

Thanks!
A happy 14.5 year user

I believe you want:
cfrm.tpl
cfrm_cat_only.tpl
forum.tpl

That'll cover the main forum view at the category display page.

I am a Web Development Contractor, I do not work for UBBCentral. I have provided free User to User Support since the beginning of these support forums.
Do you need Forum Install or Upgrade Services?
Forums: A Gardeners Forum, Scouters World
UBB.threads: UBBWiki, UBB Styles, UBB.Sitemaps
Longtime Supporter & Resident Post-A-Holic
VNC Web Services: Code Modifications, Upgrades, Styling, Coding Services, Disaster Recovery, and more!

I never tried to change the displayed format.
Even though there is a mention back a while that it would change. I don't think it cut the mustard for v8.0.
But I would think the edit would be in postlist.tpl and or forum.tpl.

Gizmo's statement is probably more comprehensive than mine.
We kinda posted on top of each other.

Many thanks!

Haven't done it yet, but now that I see elsewhere that there is 2 months max to V8 Beta I'm inclined to wait.
