I've researched the UBBboards on Joomla and wanted to get the latest word - Is Joomla the best option for template websites an is there a bridge that integrates it with the UBBthreads database?

Is anybody using Joomla and if so how has your experience been with it?

I use Joomla on a lot of sites. I have done a lot of custom work with it, as well as using free and premium templates. It isn't perfect but it is awesome for the price. wink The only only other option that I would recommend looking into is Drupal. I generally prefer Joomla since I can get to a finished project quicker.

There is a bridge option on UBBdev at https://www.ubbdev.com/forums/ubbth...mla%20JFusion%20plugin%20for%20UBB..html

I am waiting for v8 before I try to integrate my forum with Joomla. I just read the latest posts from the thread above and it appears to have some errors.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for the info - extremely helpful. I guess I don't have many specific questions since I am just starting and you have helped me confirm go with learning Joomla. I do like this site layout but I don't think its a template.

Before jumping in, are there any recommendations you can make? Should and shouldn't s?

The first thing, which isn't specifically about Joomla, is to make sure you test anything else on the domain you are installing Joomla with. The .htaccess file will change the way that things work and it is possible that existing content may be rendered unreachable. It isn't a big deal to fix though.

The difficult thing about Joomla is that you have to keep up with menus, content and modules. Make sure that you install Joomla with the setup content so that you can play around with things that currently work rather than try to add something correctly.

Templates will have different module locations. Make sure that you know where they all in order to get the most out of your template.

Feel free to PM me here is you need any help figuring something out.
