Hello everyone, I still have a license for UBBThreads 6.5.2 and just wanted to install it on my server. However I got the following error message Creating the tables...
We cannot proceed. Script: /home/thorsten/public_html/forum/ubbt.inc.php Line#: 1588 SQL Error: Table 'thorsten_ubb.w3t_Users' doesn't exist SQL Error #: 1146 Query: SELECT U_Username,U_Password,U_SessionId, U_StyleSheet, U_Status, U_Privates, U_FrontPage, U_Number, U_Banned,U_LastOn,U_OC_Userid FROM w3t_Users WHERE U_Number = ''
Please use your back button to return to the previous page. Would someone be able to help me. What do I need to fix and why does this error show up?

Table 'thorsten_ubb.w3t_Users' doesn't exist
Did you run the installer and did it create the tables for you? That error message indicates not.

Here's what I did.
1) I went to the install directory and clicked on full new installation.
Main Directory main.inc.php PASSED config.inc.php PASSED theme.inc.php PASSED sessions directory PASSED includes/.php files PASSED stylesheets/all PASSED images/icons/all PASSED images/graemlins/all PASSED All checks passed.
2) Step 2: I entered the information of my database.
Connecting to server PASSED Connecting to database PASSED Creating a table PASSED Dropping a table PASSED All test passed
3) Step 4 is to gather information on the paths and url.
phpurl PASSED images PASSED styledir PASSED path PASSED imagepath PASSED stylepath PASSED All checks passed.
4) Step 6 All config files have been created. You may now proceed to creating the database tables.
THIS IS WHERE THE ERROR MESSAGE SHOWS UP:
Creating the tables... Board table created...
We cannot proceed. Script: /home/thorsten/public_html/ubbthreads/ubbt.inc.php Line#: 1588 SQL Error: Table 'thorsten_dattabase.ubbthreads_Users' doesn't exist SQL Error #: 1146 Query: SELECT U_Username,U_Password,U_SessionId, U_StyleSheet, U_Status, U_Privates, U_FrontPage, U_Number, U_Banned,U_LastOn,U_OC_Userid FROM ubbthreads_Users WHERE U_Number = ''
Please use your back button to return to the previous page.
Any ideas what I can do?

I would check your mysql db user and password that you are using and make sure it is correct for that database with the correct permissions. Looks like it can't connect to it. (I saw that it passed first, but it isn't writing to it for some reason).

The database is correct. I'Ve tried it twice with two different databases and have installed another message board software just to make sure. That one was able to write the table.
Any other suggestions?
I'm a bit disappointed. I bought the software 4 years ago and paid 200 dollars for it - and now it's not working anymore?

I am sure it works. Not sure what is going on with your boards. I am fairly sure you did not by version 6.x threads 2 years ago for any price as 2 years ago the only one you could actually perchase was the 7.x versions.
However, something is going on with your install then, and you may have to wait for Giz or SD to look at what your error is. I would take a look at the possibility of a corrupt file upload and would try to DL the software again just to be sure.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have uploaded the software twice already and got the same error messages.
I bought UBB.Threads version 6 four years ago. I think it was late 2007. I have the receipt somewhere.
Does anyone know if I can download the software again. Maybe there really was a mistake in that file?

Something is odd on your two posts. they each show a different database name. Your first post it is: thorsten_ubb.w3t_Users Your second post is: thorsten_dattabase.ubbthreads_Users
Are you trying to use a existing database with data in it? If so you would not run the install script?
As far as a download goes you would need to pay for member access. ubb6 is there but it is a discontinued product. But by paying for member access with your current license you would have access to the current version 7.5.6. as well.

Yes, that is because I tried the installation twice. The prefix for the database table is also different too because I thought maybe I had not been allowed to change it. But either way, it produces the same error message.

I am not to familiar with ubb6 I skipped over it from classic to v7. But anyway.First thing I would check is the user rights assigned to the database. I usually assign all global rights to the user.
I would then start over from scratch. Meaning wipe it all and start over. Or move your working existing board to the new server.

I don't have a working existing board, it's a brand new installation. The database permissions are fine as I have installed two other forum software system, just to see if everything is fine with that.

So you installed two other ubb6.5.2 forum boards on the same server? If you installed say other forum software that would have nothing to do with it. since I have no idea what privileges are required for the other software.

No I installed two different message board systems. But it shows that permissions with the database are correct. I also checked with my host.

For ubb the user will need all permissions usually. ALTER CREATE CREATE ROUTINE CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES CREATE VIEW DELETE DROP EXECUTE INDEX INSERT LOCK TABLES REFERENCES SELECT UPDATE Then the only thing I can think of other that trying again from scratch is since the version you have is like from 2006 is it is very old and may not compatible with the newer versions of mysql or php you are using.

It seems that ubbthreads version 6.5.2 was corrupt, because the support has just sent me version 6.5.5 and now I succeeded. I vaguley remember that I had the same problem four years ago when I installed the system back then... but I'm not 100% sure.

Good. 6.5.5 is jan 2006 so your version was prior and have no docs on that version so it could have been a bug on that version. Probably due to newer versions of php/mysql or apache.

Yes, I'm really glad that it is working now.
If the message board is successful and gets as much feedback as I hope it will get, I will of course upgrade to UBBthreads 7, but I'd like to test it first before spending the extra money.
I'm setting up the forums now and everything seems to be fine.
