What password algorithm does UBB use?
and
How does ubb store passwords?

Can anyone answer that?

It's ultimately public information; the passwords are stored as an unsalted MD5 hash in your _USERS table in the MySQL database; unsalted meaning that extra data hasn't been added to the password as it's parsed to the MD5 function in PHP.
