Hello,

Looks like I messed something up when upgrading my message board from 7.5.5 to 7.5.6 to 7.5.6p1

The layout of the main forums page is messed up. I don't seem to be getting the "wrapper" for the message board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Did you upload/override the styles directory??? If so you will need to go to a backup and pull your style directory back.

I didn't upload the styles folder.

When I upgraded I first extract the files from the archive to a folder on my local system. Then deleted the includes, styles, and cache_builders/custom directories. Then uploaded the whole lot to my server. Then ran install/upgrade.php script.

One thing to note is when I ran the upgrade.php script for 7.5.6p1 it finished almost immediately where 7.5.6 went through a lot of steps.

Have you checked file permissions in the cp? All directories should be 777 and files 666 for the forum software.

Do you mean the Permissions Checks link under Tools & Info?

It reports OK for all items.

SO you had v 7.5.6 and updated with the patch 7.5.6p1? There should be no update script, just uploading a few files. or did you have 7.5.5 and updated to 7.5.6p1?

keep in mind -- to apply the patch, you simply upload 6 files

there is NO upgrade involved, if you are already @ 7.5.6

In the download section there is a 7.5.6 and 7.5.6p1 archive. I downloaded both. Performed the 7.5.6 upgrade and then did the same for the 7.5.6p1 version. The 7.5.6p1 contains a lot more that 6 files.

I just downloaded 12-ubbthreads-7-5-6p2 and in there are 4 directories which contain the files inside thats needed. If you are already upgraded to 7.5.6, look on the right side which has the patches and download the top one 12-ubbthreads-7-5-6p2.

Sounds like you downloaded the full 7.5.6p1 install, no need. Just download the patch if your already running 7.5.6 and upload those few files and you'll be good to go.

And really, if you have access to the members area, I'd recommend updating your forums to 7.5.6p2 versus patching an old version; you'll see a lot of enhancements and bug fixes, other than the security updates.

Well upgrading from 7.5.5 to 7.5.6 would equate to:
Quote
BUGFIX: Fixed an issue with RSS feeds showing the UBBCode instead of the HTML.
BUGFIX: Fixed an issue with the featured member sometimes showing a broken image.
BUGFIX: Fixed an issue where sometimes an invalid entry would be added to the css files causing css errors.
BUGFIX: Fixed a bug when trying to delete a user group.
BUGFIX: Fixed a pagination problem when viewing user subscriptions
BUGFIX: Fixed a bug with the moderator flag sometimes not showing up in certain forums that a user moderates.
BUGFIX: Added the missing post_inner class to the portal page.
BUGFIX: Moderator flag wasn't displaying properly for moderators due to a missing variable in showflat.
BUGFIX: Added the proper message when trying to view posts in a teaser forum.
UPDATE: Alphabetized the buddy list when viewing a user profile.
UPDATE: When a subscription expires for a user, it will also send a private message to the primary admin notifying them of the expiration.
NEW: At the bottom of each topic, there is now an optional "Facebook Like" button. This can be toggled via the control panel.
NEW: At the bottom of each topic, there is now an optional "Tweet" button. This can be toggled via the control panel.

Ah, I thought he meant that patching to 7.5.6p2 would show enhancements

I've been at 7.5.6 since July so just applied the patch 7.5.6p1 and then 7.5.6p2

Well they are enhancements in my book even if you started at 7.5.6.
The security patches are a big enhancement.
Even though there are not feature changes.

It may very well be the case that I should have simply applied the patch.

In the past I applied each upgrade by downloading the full set of files. Extracting and uploading per the upgrade instructions.

Downloading the full build may be more that is needed but it should not mess up the message board when installed.

I agree 100%.
There should be a upgrade script, Regardless if it is a version upgrade or patch and they should both work the same.
Just to avoid confusion on the user end.

Maybe we will get there soon.
